Yoga with Trinity Training

Trinity Training - More than just a workout!™

The practice of yoga as we know it in Western society is becoming more and more popular everyday. But the foundation of yoga has existed for over 5,000 years. What is most often thought of as yoga is the physical practice of various postures or "asanas," but yoga can be much more than this. Yoga can also cross into mental and spiritual realms, if you want it to.

Some people shy away from yoga because they think it'll be too easy or too spiritual, or maybe it will be too hard and the teacher will ask you to twist yourself up like a pretzel. Depending on the style of yoga and depending on the instructor, yoga could be any and all of those things. But ultimately when you find the type of yoga that works for you, it can help you strengthen your muscles and bones, improve flexibility, burn calories, relax and de-stress. There are gentler, more reflective styles that focus a lot on breath-work or styles where you'll be almost struggling to catch your breath because of the pulse-racing, calorie burning, muscle-toning challenge that is a Power Yoga practice.

Whatever you're looking for, even if you don't know what you're looking for, give yoga a chance. It may take just one class or maybe 10 classes, but over time you'll find yourself just craving for the next time you'll practice.

Yoga to Reduce Stress

Balance poses can help you focus your scattered mind leaving you feeling calmer, less stressed and better able to tackle the tasks at hand.

The holidays are supposed to be a time of joy and happiness but they can also be a time of stress. Do you ever have those days when you have so many tasks on your to-do list that it seems your mind is running at a thousand miles a minute and you can't do anything quick enough to catch up to it? After warming up the spine and bringing your attention to the breath, perform the following sequence of postures, taking 3-8 full belly breaths for each pose.
